BancNet Online now requires User ID and password registration as a basic online security feature. During registration, we require that you enter some personal information so we can link your account to your real identity.
Tips on protecting your user account:
1. Do not share or reveal
your User ID or password to anyone, including your friends and
relatives. Keep it confidential.
2. Memorize your User ID and password
and do not record or write it down especially on things that can be
easily found or accessed by someone else.
3. Never save your card
number or password on a publicly accessed computer.
4. For your
password, do not use numbers or words that are easy to guess or
recognize, such as:
a. Cellphone or telephone number
b. Birthdate
c. Home address
d. Student or employee number
e. Your name or a close relative's
name
f. Your bank account number
g. Your ATM card number
5. Make it difficult
for other people to figure out your password by using a combination
of letters and numbers. If you think someone else knows your
password, change it immediately.
6. Regularly change your password and
use a different password than you use for other services, websites
or apps.
7. Update your registered email address and mobile number in
BancNet Online when you change them.
8. Never respond to emails and
text messages claiming to be from a bank or any company that
requests your account information or personal details.
A One Time PIN or OTP is a six-digit character required to be entered to authorize transactions. It provides an extra layer of security besides your User ID and password and ATM PIN. It is generated by BancNet Online in different ways and once generated, you have to enter it within five (5) minutes, otherwise, you will be required to generate another one. For your convenience, it only needs to be entered once per bank per login session.
Ways to Get the OTP
1. Via Mobile Application - A mobile application is available for download in the Apple App Store or Google Playstore where the OTP will be displayed. To receive the OTP via mobile app, you have to link your BancNet Online user account to the mobile application. Once activated, the OTP can be generated from the phone even if you don't have internet connection.

2. Via text message (SMS) - The OTP may also be sent as a text message (SMS) to the mobile phone number registered in your BancNet Online user account.

With the new BancNet Online, you are now required to enroll your ATM card/s before you can use them. This makes it more convenient and saves you time as you do not need to enter your ATM card number every time you transact once they are enrolled. However, we still require you to enter your ATM PIN to authorize transactions.
Tips on how to secure your ATM card and PIN:
1. Memorize your PIN and never write down your PIN especially on the back of your ATM card or a piece of paper you keep inside your purse or wallet.
2. Never tell anyone your PIN. No one else needs to know it but you.
3. When entering your PIN to authorize a BancNet Online transaction, look around to make sure no one else is closely beside or behind you.
4. Never allow anyone to enter your PIN for you, even if they are trying to help with the transaction.
5. Report loss or theft immediately. If your card is lost or stolen, contact your bank as soon as you can. The faster you report it, the better you are protected from possible fraud or unauthorized use.
6. Do not share your ATM card information via email, SMS or messaging apps.
Since BancNet Online transactions are done through the internet, it pays that you are aware of some basic but crucial security measures to safeguard your account from unauthorized access and use.
Tips and measures to improve internet security:
1. Never leave your computer unattended once you have signed on to BancNet Online.
2. Logout from BancNet Online and close your browser as soon as you finish your transactions.
3. Turn on the password-protected screensaver on your computer or mobile phone. Lock your machine when you're away from your computer.
4. Clear your browser's cache regularly so important account information is removed. If you are using a shared computer or mobile phone, it is better that your clear your cache after each session.
5. Update your computer with the latest anti-virus software, personal firewall and security updates.
6. Update your computer's operating system and browsers with the latest software and security downloads.
7. Whenever possible, use a trusted computer when you are travelling.
8. Be wary of messages you receive via email or on social networking sites (such as Facebook and Twitter) that contain suspicious content, unrealistic rewards or links. Even messages that appear to come from people you know and trust can sometimes be harmful or fraudulent. If you're suspicious, don't click the link or do as the message says, instead, contact the person directly and verify the message.
9. Do not open attachments or install free software from unknown sources.
10. Exercise discretion in providing personal information on social networking sites or other public websites (ex. blogs). The more personal information you post, the easier it will be for fraudsters to use that information to steal your identity or access your account.
